Have you ever come across the terms “pro-life” or “pro-choice”? If you have, chances are that you know about the huge controversy surrounding abortion. Abortion is the act of removing a fetus before it has the chance to become a baby. The controversy evolved around whether this should be considered murder and around the resulting question of whether it should be illegal or not.
People who are vehemently against abortion call themselves “pro-life”, seeing as they claim to save lives by stopping fetuses from being aborted. However, if you look at the situation of women who want to abort, I don’t see how it would help anybody to illegalize abortion. There are a few different situations a woman can be in that would possibly lead her to wish to abort her fetus. The pregnancy could have been a result of carelessness, an accident or an assault. In most cases she will not be in a situation where she could offer her child a good life. She might still be in school, in which case a baby would hinder her chance to have a good education, or she might not have the financial security a baby would need. Not to mention the possibility of a rape victim having to deal with the additional emotional trauma. Continue reading Why being “pro-life” is not actually saving lives→
First of all, I want to point out that I use social media and that there are definitely some pros to it, but it would like to point out some things that I think make social media horrible.
Social media is mostly used by teenagers and we use it not only to stalk cute boys online or for other social interactions, which is what SOCIAL media should be about. However, we also look at tons of pictures of supermodel, for ‘inspiration’, but it actually makes us feel bad about ourselves. Continue reading Does social media affect your health?→
In spring, every family I know starts thinking about what they’re going to do in the summer holidays. They think about Italy, France, Spain, America, Croatia and a lot of other countries, but I don’t often hear that people want to go to the northern countries like Sweden, Iceland and Norway. How come? Let’s take Iceland as an example.
Despite the fact that it’s pretty expensive to go there, I cannot see one reason why people shouldn’t want to travel to Iceland. I can’t think of one country that I somehow actually fell in love with more than Iceland! It’s natural beauty is truly stunning, you can see so many things you will never be able to see in Austria, like volcanoes, beautiful but completely different mountains than in Austria, like “Landmannalaugar“ and then there is this hot water which comes from underneath the ground, I’m sure you’ve heard about it. I think that a mobile phone can be practical since it allows kids to call their parents, but at a young age it could be better to have a more basic phone without internet. This would prevent them from spending all their time on their phones playing games, which could have a negative effect on them. Especially at a young age I think it would be very bad for them to spend all their time on the phone instead of doing sports, schoolwork or meeting up with their friends. A big problem is the fact that there are always young kids with smartphones and this will make other kids also want phones in order to fit in. However, a phone is not necessary in order to fit in and I think it is important for kids to learn not to care too much about what others think. So I think the appropriate age is around 12 years depending on the kid.
Today I want to tell you about something I really like to do in my free time: Fifa. You don´t like to play it, well here are some reasons why you should!
To start off, I want to talk about the social aspect of playing Fifa. It just brings people together. If you play football you have also most probably heard or played Fifa. Via the internet you can connect yourself with your friends and play together. You can meet up after school and have a good time with them and the game.
Today I will talk about a disease that really scares me. It is the disease that creates a border between the citizens of the world. A disease that has caused wars and the deaths of many people all over the world. I’m talking about the disease that can affect each and every one of us and destroy our world really easily. The disease I’m talking about has a name everybody knows, RacismContinue reading Warning, deadly disease attacking Europe→
Don’t you just want to sit down and relax after a long day of school? Yeah, me too. But then you remember this annoying text you have to write for your French class or those stupid graphs you have to draw for Math and, not to forget, the Biology test you have to study for! I am sure every student knows what I am talking about. Continue reading School – is it too much?→
I think most of you know that in many societies there are problems with intolerance and racism. This is a horrible thing because my opinion is that every single one of us is a human who has their own colour of skin, their own way they like to dress, the right to live and the right to be treated as everyone else.
Racism is a big issue at the moments, especially bcause of the refugee crisis in Europe. Yes, it is hard to have so many people coming to Europe at once, but imagine you and your family in their situation. You would also like another county to help you in such a situation. Those refugees come from countries where war is ongoing and their economies are terrible. They are terrified of getting killed or losing their families. Because of this they come to Europe, and I think the whole thing is harder for them than it is for us. It’s not a solution to send them back or close the borders, because our countries have enough space and enough money to handle the stream of people coming to them. We can manage. Pretend, for a moment, that you are an avid reader as many around you are. You’ve just finished the last 14000 word steampunk novella you’ve been reading for a week, and your stock of fresh DiscWorld books is slowly going dry. “Where?” you sob, clutching a pillow. “Oh, where will I find my next piece of Gothic literature with a healthy dose of dark humour?”
Could you imagine life without doing sport? Not me, that would be impossible.
In this blog I will tell you why you should start doing sport. You think that lying on the couch watching a series is fun? Wrong! Meet with your friends and get active. A short run a day or just a few sit ups; start small and do more every time. You will realise that after a few weeks doing sport you will feel more healthy and awake.
