Get On Your Feet

When you’re a kid and things go wrong, your mum or dad or some other relative does their best to sort it out, give you a hug, remind you you’re doing OK, just a little of back up and get you back on your feet. Because good parents back off slowly as you get older anyway. They know that if they don’t you’ll never learn to get back on your feet after a knock. And you do have to be able to get yourself back on your feet. Let’s take a further look at it. Continue reading Get On Your Feet

You have to ask yourself if you’re more city- or the countryside-type. What climate do you prefer?…I’m sure lots will quickly come into your mind! Continue reading Year abroad. Why you should use natural cosmetics

In this post I want to tell you why you should take a little bit more time to read through the labels of cosmetic products and what chemicals you should especially avoid.

Using chemical cosmetics can lead to bad health. Many people want to lead a healthy lifestyle. They start to eat more vegetables and do more sports but not too many people consider the fact that also using the right cosmetic products can make you healthier. Several chemicals are found in cosmetics and our bodies absorb about 60 percent of what we put on our skin. The chemicals then can enter our blood stream, which can lead to cancer, acne, allergies, eczema and hormone disruption. Using cosmetics containing hormone disrupting chemicals is especially dangerous for teenagers as they are developing at this age. Continue reading Why you should use natural cosmetics

What does it take to get the driver’s license for a moped?

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could ride your scooter to school or to appointments without always depending on your parents or public transport? Here I am going to tell you what you need, in order to do that.

Basically you can get the moped driver’s license from the age of 16 but you can even get it a bit earlier, if your parents sign a form which says that they are ok with you getting it at the age of 15. You can start taking lessons half a year before your 15th birthday (14 and a half). If you have passed the theoretical test and the practical hours the earliest you can get the license is on your 15th birthday.

You have to take 6 hours of the theoretical courses, 8 practical hours with the moped and two out of the 8 hours are spent on the road.

Now more about the test itself:

Lucky you, you only have to take a theoretical test where you have to get at least 80% right (19 out of 23) to pass. There is no test for the driving, but if you are very bad and insecure during those two hours on the road you are most likely to have to repeat them.

Of course taking the driver’s license is not  free. It is actually quite expensive. Usually you need to pay 179€ but the cost varies depending on where you do it. Another 60€ have to be paid to get the final driver’s license plus an additional 10 euros for the study materials. You get 5 euros back if you return the study materials. For registration you need your birth certificate, your passport and 2 passport photos, then you are good to go.

Don’t forget to ride carefully once you are out on the roads.

Concussions in the NFL

Preventing concussions

I play american football myself and I have had a concussion already so I wanted to know what is done against them. I really liked the results of this research so I wanted to share them with you. I hope you also like the results. I put them into some chapters starting with the helmets.

Helmets:
In the beginning of football the helmets were only meant to protect from skull fractures, but now they more and more protect from concussions. First of all they have air cushions instead of plastic and rubber ones so they have a better fit and the head stops slower when it is hit. The newest model of the Riddell helmets even has a slit in the front so the helmet can change its shape in order to protect from concussions. All in all the NFL has payed over 20 million dollars to improve the technology. Continue reading Concussions in the NFL

The effects of group sports

Sportacrobatics, Chearleading or Rock `n` Roll dance… all these sports that I have just listed are group sports. Group sports have been a really big part of my life since I was only four years old, Sportacrobatics is my favorite one. In this text I will list a few effects that being in a group sport can have and why I would definitely recommend taking up a group sport.
