It is good for your health in general, for your fitness, is cheap and it wakes you up in the morning. Are you one of these people who are too lazy to ride your bike in the morning or after school? I kind of can understand you but still there are so many positive aspects who argument for riding your bike. I started to ride the bike to school 3 years ago and now I nearly go every day by bike. I’m much faster and I don’t waste any time as I would if I took the bus instead, for example, because there I would just have to wait until I can get off again. Still you are not convinced? No problem, just read on:) Continue reading Why you should go to school by bike?→
We eat it, we shower with it, we clean with it and we drive with it. Palm Oil is a primary ingredient used in every other food. Nevertheless, it is included in more products than you would think, because food is not the only product that contains Palm Oil. You can find it in our cosmetics, in shampoo, in cleaning products and of course in fuels. Actually, Palm Oil has become an essential part in our lives, without us noticing it. It is pretty cheap for the companies and you can use it for various things. However, considering how dependent we are of it, and how much of it we consume every day, we need to be aware that it is destroying the rainforest incredibly fast. These are not only the first three words of my blog post. It’s also the three first words and the title of a song written by the singer Pink. I might say that her, in my opinion critical song, which was an open letter to former US President George W. Bush, inspired me a bit. It got me thinking that an open letter to you dear Mister President, would be perfect.
Well first of all, dear Mister President, I am sorry for you. If I were you I wouldn’t feel like a real president. You must face the truth more people voted for your opponent than for you, dear Mister President. More people wished to see another person living in the White House. Less people wanted to be stuck with you, dear Mister president for the next four years. Continue reading An open letter to the American President→
I have often heard sentences like that and I am sure you have too, but as it is generally known, it is always easier to complain about things, rather than to actually do something about them Especially concerning Global Warming or Climate Change, whatever you want to call it. Global Warming is without a doubt a major issue for all of us, and not only for those who are currently witnessing it. Because no matter if you want it or not, we are all part of this world and we ought to prevent it from falling apart. Continue reading “What We have done to our Planet is Criminal”→
I personally love Austrian lakes, because for me, they replace the sea. It is cheap going there, and almost always really close. Whenever me and my family don´t know where to go on vacation, we always travel to an Austrian lake. Here are some of the lakes me and my family like alot:
Greenlake – Styria
Close to a little village called Tragöß, there is a really famous lake called “Green lake”. The name fits perfect, because the lakes water is a dynamic green color. The lake is created from the melting snow from the Karst mountains, that´s why the temperature of the lake is constantly cold, even in summer. Anyhow, the lake is extremely famous. Especially because it offers scuba diving in the lake with a guide and a wet suit to resist the cold. Continue reading Austrian lakes to travel to in summer→
Currently there are many shops that promote their new “organic cotton series”. But are these clothes really in any way better and more organic than others? Yes, they are better than “normal” clothes because they really need less water and use fewer pesticides in the cultivation. Well, actually, in organic cotton clothes there should not be any pesticides, right? The thing is that most of these clothes are blended, which means that only a part of it is organic and the other part is just normal conventional cotton. Another thing you have to bear in mind is that cultivation is only one part of the whole production chain.
In a production chain you have many different steps and during each step more and more chemicals and pesticides are added. First comes of course the cultivation but then there are still so many other steps: the spinning, the sewing, the washing, the dying, and so on… So when a piece of clothing is made with organic cotton you could still find many pesticides inside it. Since I’m vegetarian I also tried being vegan for a while. Being vegetarian, which means not eating any meat is easy for me, since we never ate a lot of meat in my family and I’ve never wanted to eat an animal, which makes one also partly responsible for it getting killed. So in my opinion being vegetarian is much better than eating meat. But what about avoiding everything which comes from animals? Is it bad for animals if we eat things like milk, yoghurt, cheese or eggs? Most of the animal products, except meat or leather, don’t hurt the animals if we take them. So is it really better to be vegan, not only for the animals, but also for our environment? Continue reading Are vegan products better for our environment?→
Like other female mammals cows only lactate when they are pregnant or when they have a new born to feed. So in order for the cows to keep producing milk, over and over again, the dairy industry impregnates the cows through a process called “artificial insemination”. This is a process where the farmers basically just collect the bull’s semen and insert it into the cow’s vagina, through a long tube, sometimes (actually always) on a so-called “raping-rack”. And to loosen that area a little bit, they forcibly insert their entire forearm into the cow’s anus. Continue reading The Truth Behind Dairy Products→
Over the summer I read a lot about all the fish living in the oceans, especially about sharks. They are such interesting creatures, and when I read that humans just kill them off one by one, I was utterly devastated. So when my teacher proposed the idea of writing about something I wanted to tell people all around the world, I decided this was one of the main topics I wanted to write about.
Humans have done so many evil things over the centuries. We all know that. There have been so many species extinct, or facing the threat of extinction. I could write millions of pages, use the most extravagant words, and I would not be able to come even close to describing all the horrors our planet and its nonhuman inhabitants must go through.
