Why you should start doing sport

Could you imagine life without doing sport? Not me, that would be impossible.

In this blog I will tell you why you should start doing sport. You think that lying on the couch watching a series is fun? Wrong! Meet with your friends and get active. A short run a day or just a few sit ups; start small and do more every time. You will realise that after a few weeks doing sport you will feel more healthy and awake. How to live a healthy life

A lot of people want to lose weight or just be more healthy. The problem is that most of them don’t really know how to do that, so they just stop eating sweets or try living vegan. But this is not the solution,  there are much better ways to live a healthy life.

First of all, living vegan is not always healthy, only if you know what your body needs to survive. Secondly, to stop eating chocolate won’t solve your problem either. To live a healthy life you really have to spend time thinking about this topic before you start. I thought long and hard about how to change my habits before I started living a more healthy life. Since last December I have been living very healthy, which defenitely doesn’t mean that I don’t eat any sweets!
I am now going to tell you what I do and eat. Continue reading How to live a healthy life

How to live a healthy life

I guess everybody wants to live a healthy life. But what can we do to encourage healthy living?

One really important aspect is food. Vegetables and fruits contain important vitamins our bodies need. The perfect amount of vegetables and fruits one should eat per day are 4 to 5 portions. We have such a wide range of healthy food we can choose from and it really helps our bodies to stay fit. Of course meat and eggs and also carbohydrates are really important for our health, but only in limited amounts. Continue reading How to live a healthy life

WAR IS IT OVER

 WAR IS IT OVER?

I’m sure you’ve heard about the different conflicts going on around the world and terrorist attacks that have happened in the last couple of months. But does that mean that we should live in fear of another war starting soon?

No! Most of the wars going on around the world are civil wars or local conflicts which of course doesn’t justify them or make them “better”. However, their impact on the whole world is much smaller than a war between nations. Why aren’t there more wars, why don’t more nations start attacking each other? Continue reading WAR IS IT OVER

We should help all women to get more rights!

Some weeks ago I read the astonishing book “I am Malala“. After reading it I started to think about it and I decided to write a blog about women’s rights and how we can promote this idea.

So if I take the book “I am Malala“ as an example I should start by giving you some background information on her. She’s a girl, born in Afghanistan and some years ago had to move to England because she almost lost her life. This was because she was fighting for women’s rights and the Taliban didn’t want that (and still don’t) and so they shot her in the head. I think everyone has at least heard of Malala and her story, if not then you had better read this book, because I think especially for the younger generation it’s important for us to know about these brave people, who are risking their lives, to make a change in the world. Malala, she was just fifteen years old! Fifteen years, can you believe how brave this girl was/is? Continue reading We should help all women to get more rights!

Equality for all

Although you might not notice it as much in some regions, gender inequality is still a huge problem that affects the entire world. As you probably know, women in the eastern countries are still widely opressed, some don’t even have the right to a proper educaton or job. Most women in the East have to cover themselves up as much as possible and if they get sexually abused it is their fault for ‘dressing provocotively’. How is that fair?

If you are reading this and live in one of the western countries you’re probably thinking I’m a total feminist and that life can’t get more equal than it already is. Well, quite frankly, you’re wrong and I’m going to tell you why. Continue reading Equality for all

Female Representation in Movies

Think of your favorite movie.

Now try to name as many characters from that film as you can.

Write their names in a column, male on one side, female on the other.

What do you see?

Chances are the list of male names is about twice as long as the list of females. Why is that? In the world there are roughly the same amount of men and women, shouldn’t a movie represent that? Shouldn’t it at least be somewhat similar to reality? While that seems logical, a study by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film has confirmed that in 2014[1] just about 30% of all characters in movies, and only 12% of protagonists, were female. You could of course ask why it is that way. It’s a valid question. It doesn’t represent real life. And while that may make sense for some movies taking place in universes that have nothing to do with our reality, it certainly doesn’t for most. Continue reading Female Representation in Movies

Shipping for beginners

In the Fandom-world shipping is nothing uncommon, I think everybody has shipped something at some point in their life, even without realizing it. But for all of those who don’t necessarily know what shipping even is I’ll try to explain it, and everything that comes with it.

Shipping is the act of really liking the idea of two people being in a relationship. There are thousands of ships out there, and there are no limits to shipping… you can ship your brother with that one girl he keeps talking about, you can ship yourself with that one amazing book-character, you can ship a model with a singer, two bandmates, your parents, your pets even your houseplants! Certain Fandoms have their own really popular ships, like Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter for example, but what would a ship be without a shipname. Continue reading Shipping for beginners

Austria’s Next Topmodel: Boys AND Girls, not Boys or Girls

You probably know the Austrian casting show which is moderated by Melanie Scheriau. Originally it was for girls only, like the German show ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’, but since 2014 boys also have the chance to become Austria’s next top model.

I think that this was a very good idea, because now the models always have a partner of the opposite sex to do photo shoot with. It’s also very interesting to see the models shoot with models of the other sex they personally know, and to see with whom they can work together the best. Maybe there is even somebody they fall in love with. Continue reading Austria’s Next Topmodel: Boys AND Girls, not Boys or Girls
