Have you ever wondered if there are football leagues in other regions like Europe? Well the answer is  yes. For instance in Austria, it`s called the Austrian Football League (AFL) and I’m going to tell you a little bit about it.

Teams in the AFL. In the AFL there are 8 teams: The Graz Giants, the Vienna Vikings, the Danube Dragons, the Swarco Tirol Raiders, the Prague Black Panthers, the Mödling Rangers, the Blue Devils and the Ljubljana Silver Hawks. As you can see,  half of the AFL consists of Austrian teams, while the remaining teams come from Poland or other Countries. The Vienna Vikings dominated the AFL in the last couple of years, but there are two teams uprising right now, the Graz Giants and the Swarco Raiders. Do You Believe in an Afterlife?

Do You Believe in an Afterlife?

Have you ever thought about what happens to us after we die? When we discussed the afterlife as a topic in religious education, I was so into it. I did a lot of research on my own and even bought a book about this topic.

When I was little I used to believe that when you die you go to heaven, because this is what my parents and grandparents told me and yours probably, too. When I was about 10-13 I didn’t believe that anymore because it didn’t sound realistic to me at all. Continue reading Do You Believe in an Afterlife?

Why you should stretch

Some people think that stretching before or after sport is absolutely pointless, while others  might think that stretching is  compulsory. There are people who think holding a stretch for just a few seconds is already enough and some just stretch because they want to prevent sore muscles. It turns out that when and how you stretch can make or break your fitness/flexibility goals.

Why should I actually stretch?

Hmm – good question – why should you stretch? Well, there are many reasons stretching has a positive influence on your fitness, your performance, your energy and of course your flexibility. Continue reading Why you should stretch

The truth behind artificial coloring and DIY Egg coloring

In many parts of the world people celebrate Easter. One of the must-haves at this time of year is colored hard-boiled eggs. You can buy them or boil and dye them yourself. But did you know that many do-it-yourself colors are toxic and most of the colored eggs you can buy in the supermarkets are from chickens in battery cages?

Eggs from the Supermarket

It is bad enough that hens are locked up in tiny cages, but you may not have noticed that the cage system of housing does not provide any space for roosters. What many people don’t know is that many of the male fledglings are killed because they can’t lay eggs and are therefore uneconomic – even organic farmers do this! The best thing you can do is to buy your eggs directly from your local farmer or sometimes supermarkets offer eggs from special farmers that don’t kill the baby roosters. If you don’t have these choices it is still better to buy free-range eggs than barn eggs! Continue reading The truth behind artificial coloring and DIY Egg coloring

Heli-Skiing and Ice-Climbing

Hey guys! Today I’m writing my first blog entry and it’s about heli-skiing and ice-climbing. I read about it on the internet and must say that it sounds really awesome. Heli-skiing, also called helicopter skiing, is a type of free-riding, which involves a helicopter to access remote areas and slopes of powder snow.

Heli-skiing is actually nothing you would do for family-holidays. It’s more like an adventure trip for adults, because you have to be over the age of 19. You also have to be a good skier in order to get the permission to try heli-skiing.

I was thinking about the major consequences that would happen if everyone tried an experience like heli-skiing. My main point is that everyone can ski on slopes with no experience, but let us say that heli-skiing becomes a cool trend, then these untouched slopes will be as crowded as the normal ones. How I learned to love myself? Vegan Lifestyle

I have always loved writing, but only in my notebook where I was the only person allowed to read these texts. Now I have the opportunity to write about a topic, which is important to me, with people who have the same interests as me. They will join and read what I think. Ops, what we think.

You are probably asking yourself: “Why is she so motivated?” or “Can’t she finally say what she is writing about?”. So, here it is: Vegetarian and Vegan Lifestyles. Believe me or not, this is a topic that I haven’t been able to get out of my head for half a year now. Let me tell you what I know and what I have experienced. Life beyond Earth. Does it exist?

Life beyond Earth. Does it exist?

I’m pretty sure you have wondered about it before, whether we are alone in this universe or not. Or, if there are beings that live among us in this endless dark space our world floats in.

Some scientists, for example, the astronomer Frank Drake, say ,,that we are surrounded by at least thousands of civilizations that inhabit this galaxy as well’’, while others believe that we are alone in this galaxy perhaps even in the entire universe. I believe that since the universe is infinite there could be an infinite number of inhabitable planets as well. Continue reading Life beyond Earth. Does it exist?

Do you know where your clothes come from?

Have you ever thought about who produces your clothes?

We all know that most of the clothes we buy are produced in foreign countries. But why do companies produce their clothes in other countries? Firstly, the laws are different in foreign countries. For example, they have lower minimum wages, more working hours are possible and child labor is accepted. Even though the global brands are making millions in profit, the workers are not paid a living wage. In Asia, over 15 million people are employed in the garment industry. The majority of the world`s garment workers are women. Continue reading Do you know where your clothes come from?

Sugar-is it only sweet?

One or two months ago, a friend of mine told me that she had decided to stop eating sugar. Not because she was worried about her weight, but because sugar can cause a lot of diseases.  I did a bit of research on the internet, and I found a number of disconcerting facts about sugar. I also found out that in 1997, every person in Austria consumed 40,4 kilograms of sugar per year.

Sugar can, of course, cause tooth decay, but doctors are also discussing whether sugar may increase the risk of cancer. Continue reading Sugar-is it only sweet?
