It’s that time of the year again. 2016 is coming to an end and most people, and probably even you, have new year’s resolution in mind. Maybe you want to lose those few pounds you gained during Christmas or you want to be more productive or you simply want to spend more time with your loved ones. A new year gives you the opportunity to re-create yourself, to improve yourself or to forget what happened in the past and start off new. Often you start enthusiastically and full of pation into the new year but you know that it won’t stay like this for long. In most cases, people break their resolutions after one or two months. Why don’t people hold on to their resolutions? You often hear others saying that they are “too busy” or that they have “too much stress” at the moment. So here are three tips to put those resolutions to action:
- COMMITMENT: to reach any goal, one needs to put a lot of effort and time into it. You have to be aware of the fact that you will not reach those goals from one day to another. Think in terms of small steps: one step a day.
- REASON: why did you want to change something in the first place? Maybe you wanted to quit smoking to become healthier and live a longer life. Remind yourself to that very reason constantly! Every time you want to give in, remember why you started. That way you will not forget how important this is to you.
- LITTLE GOALS: break your resolution into little and reachable goals and give yourself a treat for every accomplished goal. That way your actual goal doesn’t seem so far away and every single accomplished will encourage you to continue.
I hope these tips will help you become the human being you’ve always wanted to be. I wish you happy holidays and good for reaching you goals!
