The biggest problem in politics

The whole world is currently talking about an especially important and recent event, which has just occurred in the US – the election of the next president. In this blog post I will cover that there are surprisingly only two parties as well as a shocking trend in people’s voting habits all over the world.

To begin with, it’s important to get a quick overview of the parties in the US. Surprisingly, there are only two of them and they are complete opposites of each other. One calls themselves the Republicans. They are absolutely ignoring climate change, want more people to carry weapons with them, don’t care about the health system and take delight in refusing to provide immigrants with the support and help they need. On the other hand, there are the Democrats. As already mentioned, both parties oppose each other. Therefore, the Democrats address the issue of climate change quite well, want people to own fewer guns and desire to expand the health system.

When comparing these parties to Austrian ones it becomes obvious which parties share similarities. For instance, the Republicans are similar to the Austrian FPÖ and the ÖVP, while the Democrats are more like the Austrian SPÖ and the Green party. Similarly to Austria, where the FPÖ unfortunately gained many votes, you can spot an increase of Republican-voters in the US too.

Shockingly to me, there appears to be a global trend that somehow leads more people to vote for conservative and right-wing parties instead of left ones in elections. It is possible to make out this trend almost everywhere: You can find it in France, Italy, Germany and many other countries. In my opinion that is something especially bad and I hope this problem will vanish as soon as possible.

I personally find this very shocking and cannot properly explain this phenomenon to me. If you know a possible reason why this might be happening or you want to share your thoughts on the recent US-election I would ask you to leave a comment.

Our dream house, but noisy neighbours

Moving into our new house was supposed to be perfect. It was in a nice area with a big garden and lots of space. The kids were excited to have their own rooms, and we loved the cozy living space. However, our noisy neighbours soon spoiled it.

From the start, it felt like we were living next to a construction site. They play loud music at all hours, often until late at night, disturbing our sleep and making it hard for the children to study. On weekends, there are loud parties and shouting. Even simple things like watching a movie or having a quiet dinner are often ruined by the noise.

I feel frustrated and helpless about the situation. This is supposed to be our place of refuge, but the noise is stressing us out and affecting our lives. We don’t know how to deal with it without upsetting our neighbours, but something has to be done.

How would my English friends deal with it? Any advice on how to deal with it without making it worse would be great. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do about this problem, perhaps you have experienced it yourself?

My Views on Honesty

Every child is told by its parents to tell the truth. Being truthful is actually moral in the human society. I mean, even in the ten commandments it says: You must not lie. So one could say humanity started to tell the truth right from the start, which would mean that lying would turn around this whole society. I was told that lies rip apart friends, destroy families and other bonds. That lies would destroy governments, cause the apocalypse… that lies will send you straight to hell. So let me be honest: Continue reading My Views on Honesty

Gift Shopping – Step by Step Guide to Gift Shopping

At the beginning of December everyone starts with all the Christmas preparations. They include decorating the house outside as well as inside, baking cookies, but of course you also have to get all the gifts for your beloved ones.

All the things you have to consider before actually purchasing the gifts are not easy at all.

First, you have to decide who you want to get a present for. There are people, like your family and friends, where it’s clear that you want to give them a gift. But maybe there are also those who you wouldn’t buy a present for, but you have to get them something, as they always give you a present.

When you have decided who you want to give a little gift to you have to plan your budget. Probably, there are people you want to spend more money for than others that’s the reason why you should set a price limit for every single present. I know, it’s not always easy to stick to these limits but this prevents you from having a completely empty bank account after Christmas.

As soon as you have decided on your price limits you have to think of the presents that fit for each person on your list. Mostly, that’s not easy but make sure you have a detailed plan what gifts to buy before actually go out for the Christmas shopping. This will make all the difference.

To give you some ideas for your gift shopping I’ve made a list of my 5 quite inexpensive gift ideas for you:

  1. Cookies – a sweet inexpensive little gift that fits for almost everyone are homemade cookies
  2. Perfume – Perfume is a gift mostly for women, you want to spend a little bit more for
  3. Cup – there are a lot of cups with sweet sayings and you can fill them with sweets
  4. Tea – some Christmassy teas are a very nice present for those who start to drink tea
  5. Personalized presents – there are a lot of things you can personalize by writing names on it, like cups, blankets or Christmas stockings

The last thing to be done is my personal favorite. It’s the actual shopping. I think when you do the Christmas shopping that brings you in a really festive and happy mood and I then know that Christmas is coming!

I hope you enjoyed reading the text and found some helpfull tips.

My Top Three Christmas Movies

Christmas is coming soon. It’s getting colder christmas-blogand colder, all you can see are bright and shiny lights all over. You can smell the wonderful Christmas cookies right away when you enter the house. You are together with your friends, laughing, singing, playing games and you’re most likely to also watch great Christmas movies.

Here are my top three Christmas movies for a cozy evening on your couch. Get the popcorn out!

home-alone

 1 Home Alone

This is my absolute favourite Christmas movie! I don’t have this very special Christmas feeling until I’ve watched Home Alone. It’s the funniest movie you’ll ever watch!

It’s about the totally chaotic McCallisters, who are invited to come to Paris to visit a relative. Kevin is an eight year old boy and in fact the youngest of his siblings. He has a hard time trying not to be overheard in this huge mess. Nobody wants to help him, everyone is ignoring him and as if that was not enough, his oldest brother and biggest enemy Buzz eats the last piece of cheese pizza that was meant for him. Finally, it’s too much and he vents his anger. His furious mother sends him to bed with a lecture. There’s nothing else Kevin wishes for but for his family to disappear. And his wish was heard.

On the next morning everyone is gone. Everyone but Kevin. His family forgot him when they went off for the airport.

Thieves are roaming the neighborhood. The McCallisters live in a street with very beautiful houses and with even more beautiful insides. Of course the thieves also want to stop by the house of the McCallisters. But there’s still someone inside. Kevin home alone.

The thieves do not want to spare the McCallister’s house and totally underestimate the defending abilities of an eight-year-old boy who definitely wants to keep every bit of his house.

2 Christmas with the Kranks

This movie is just brilliant! It perfectly reflects the troubles everyone has before Christmas. Everybody runs around like crazy to get all the presents, to prepare an elaborate meal, to donate enough money to charities and to make sure that everything is perfect. The actors played their roles perfectly. It’s just a must-see for Christmas!

The Kranks live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone. Christmas is always the big highlight in the neighborhood. Everyone is getting out Frosty and puts bright and shiny lights on their house. The more decoration the better. The Kranks have always participated to make the Christmas season as beautiful as possible. But then their daughter Blaire decides to go to South America over Christmas with the church choir. With their daughter out the house, the Kranks decide to go on a cruise to the Caribbean. Bu their conservative neighbours want to keep the traditions and the Kranks experience a very difficult Christmas time.

3 The Santa Clause

This movie has made it on the third place. This is a wonderful movie for the whole family. It shows all about Santa. Starting with the North Pole, his reindeer, the huge and brightly shining workshop up to the delivery of presents!

It is about the mid-aged Calvin who has lost the belief in Christmas. He is pretending to believe in Santa for his little son Charlie and his adorable little niece Lucy. However, there’s not much space for the shine of Christmas between his ex-wife’s new boyfriend and his stressful job. On Christmas Eve, Calvin reads a good-night story about Santa and his reindeer to his son. All of a sudden, they hear a strange, very loud noise on their roof. Of course, they go outside to see what has happened. They open the door and a man, clothed in a beautiful red coat slips and falls off their roof. All that’s left of the man are his clothes. A gigantic red coat with red trousers. To do a favour to Charlie, Calvin puts the clothes on and it doesn’t take long until he gets bigger and bigger and grows a long white beard…..
