What a Catch, Donnie! It’s Fall Out Boy!

From punk rock to soul they have everything covered. Four guys, one mission: Save Rock and Roll. Let me present to you Fall Out Boy, one of the best bands ever. *Audience cheering enthusiastically*

Patrick Stump is the lead vocalist, as well as a guitarist, pianist and composer for Fall Out Boy. He has an impressive vocal range and during the band’s hiatus he produced the album Soul Punk fully on his own which is absolutely amazing. To be honest, he is my favorite band member! If people tell me they don’t like Patrick, I am always stumped *ba dum tss*

Pete Wentz is the bassist and lyricist of the band. His lyrics can go from “You are what you love, not who loves you” to “Let’s play a game called if you were on fire I wouldn’t piss on you to put you out!” Some people called Pete emo, and it’s true, his eyeliner was always on point. Sadly he stopped wearing eyeliner, because I think it really suited him. Also, he has had more hair colors than I have had boyfriends!
Joe Trohman is the guitarist. I think he is goofy which makes him so adorable. He also collects guitars and Star Wars action figures.
And, last but not least, Andy Hurley, the drummer. I think that he is probably, no, definitely the toughest of the four guys. His tattoo-covered body amplifies this suspicion of mine. Apart from that, not many can pull off a beard like Andy can!

Fall Out Boy was founded by Pete and Joe in 2001. They met in a different band and decided to start one on their own. I am sure millions of fans would agree on one thing: Thank the god of music that this happened! Patrick joined shortly after. Side fact, Joe met Patrick in a Borders bookstore and recruited him to join the band. Andy joined some weeks later.

Still an unnamed band by their second show, they asked the audience for suggestions. A fan shouted out, “F*ck that! No! You’re Fall Out Boy! “  Et voilà, the band found its name, which is the name of a Simpsons character, although the band was not aware of this until later in in their career. My guess is, the name giver was a slightly drunk Matt Groening. Since 2009 the band has produced the music at the end of each Simpsons episode.

The band had its first major breakthrough in 2005 with their second album ‘From Under the Cork Tree’.  After a few more great albums, they broke up in 2010. Luckily, I didn’t know the band back then because it would have probably broken my heart. Fall Out Boy played its last show at Madison Square Garden on October 4th in 2009. Their good-bye song was ‘What a Catch, Donnie’ mixed with some of their greatest hits, thereby making many of their fans cry (don’ deny it!) I can understand why they broke up. Patrick said in an interview that the making of their fourth album, Folie á Deux, was painful and the band members fought over the smallest things. During their hiatus, the band members all worked their own careers. Patrick was the only successful one, tough. He produced an album fully own his own, Soul Punk. He played every single instrument in the album.

The band returned to the business in 2013 with the album Save Rock And Roll, to the delight of their many fans. I became a fan of their music around that time. Their latest album, American Beauty/American Psycho came out in 2015.

And now, go to YouTube, type in Fall Out Boy and I promise you, you won’t be able to sit still!  And I’d also be thankful for any comments, opinions or any kind of suggestions.

See ya’ll!!!!
